Awards through Ohio Campus Compact

Ohio Campus Compact offers a variety of state and national award opportunities for college students and faculty affiliated with OCC member campuses. See information below about both state and national award programs for 2009-2010 as well as 2008-2009 award recipients. Click the links for details about each award.

State Awards
Application Deadline: Friday, March 19, 2010 to Ohio Campus Compact
The Charles J. Ping Student Award is open to all Ohio Campus Compact member institutions. This award is designed to recognize and honor undergraduate students for their outstanding leadership and contribution to community service OR service-learning on their campus and within their community.
Four Ping Award winners are selected to a receive a $500 Honorarium to the community partner of their choice due to the generosity of State Farm Insurance.
Application Deadline: Friday, March 19, 2010 to Ohio Campus Compact
Awarded annually to one faculty or staff member from an OCC member school.
This award, named for the late David Hoch, Dean of Honors at the University of Toledo and Director of Service-Learning, honors the outstanding work in service-learning and/or civic engagement by a faculty or staff member at an Ohio Campus Compact member institution.
National Awards
Application Deadline: ON HOLD to National Campus Compact
Award: $5,000
The Frank Newman Student Leadership Award recognizes students with financial need and civic leadership potential and provides both financial support and mentorship to help them achieve their academic and civic goals. Two undergraduates at Campus Compact member institutions will be honored; one award is reserved for a student at a 2-year institution and the other is for a sophomore or junior at a 4-year college/university.
*Note: There is no required campus match for this award in 2009
Application Deadine: Wednesday, March 24, 2010 to National Campus Compact
Award: $2,000
The Ehrlich Faculty Award recognizes and honors one faculty member from a member institution each year for exemplary leadership in advancing the civic learning of students, including public scholarship, building campus commitment to service-learning and civic engagement, and fostering reciprocal community partnerships.
Ten finalists will also be selected and recognized.
Application Deadline: Passed
Ohio Campus Compact (OCC) has been selected to present a maximum of three (3) grants of $1,000 each from the Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Partnership Foundation (JRCPF) to the community organization partner of three (3) students whose proposals indicate the most innovative and promising uses to establish or significantly further a partnership between the student (and his or her school) and a community non-profit organization.
