Ohio Campus Compact’s Annual Meeting is being held on Thursday, August 4th, 2022. This year’s event will be located at The Blackwell Inn & Pfahl Conference Center on The Ohio State University campus. Our theme is “Cultivating Change and Sense of Belonging on Campus: The Future of Community and Civic Engagement.” The OCC Annual Meeting offers participants the opportunity to: 1. Network with others working to advance community and civic engagement; 2. Receive resources on best practices in community partnerships, faculty development, and student learning related to community and civic engagement; and 3. Share updates on critical state, regional, and national initiatives in higher education.

North Carolina Campus Compact invites you to this free virtual presentation and conversation. Supporting Free Speech for All on Campus April 13 (2:00 p.m. – 3:15 p.m.) Recent years have seen the values of free speech, diversity, and inclusion in tension with one another in higher education. But these principles can–and must–be harmonized, balanced, and upheld in tandem, for the benefit of the rising generation and the special role of the academy in our democracy. This presentation will draw on the nuanced history of free speech to present a vision of ‘free speech for all’, a belief in both upholding free speech and ensuring that people from all backgrounds have opportunities to speak, be heard, and be respected. The presentation will touch on practical tips for faculty and administrators who confront challenges surrounding speech on campus, in part drawing on PEN America’s Campus Free Speech Guide and its years of experience partnering with and advising colleges on these issues around the country. 2019 Propel Ohio Collegiate Leadership Summit

Propel Ohio is a leadership program that promotes civic engagement and inspires undergraduate students to grow into civic leaders in Ohio. The one-day leadership program will feature Senator Brown, keynote speaker Monica Ramirez, founder of Justice for Migrant Women, guest speakers and workshop facilitators who will actively engage students on issues affecting Ohio. The summit will also include an engagement fair. Each of Ohio’s two-year, four-year public and private colleges and universities and regional campuses are invited to appoint undergraduate students and an administrator to attend the program.

The Institute will be held on UD’s campus at Emerson’s Helix Innovation Center. Collaborating with globalsl (globalsl.org), a multi-institutional hub supporting ethical global learning and community campus partnerships, the Institute will bring around 50 people together as members of a learning community dedicated to continuously improving community and student outcomes through community-campus partnerships for ethical global learning — domestically and internationally. For two and a half days, participants will think and dialogue deeply with academic and practitioner leaders and community partners, and they will consider innovative approaches for advancing ethical community-engaged global learning.

2019 Community Engagement Conference: Partnering for a Resilient and Sustainable Future

What role do meaningful partnerships play in creating a sustainable future? How does a community become and remain vibrant and resilient?
