Exploring the Opportunity: Bringing the Initiative to Revive Civility to Your Campus

Incivility in America has reached epidemic proportions. Disrespect contributes to feelings of disconnection, dislike and distrust resulting in lack of engagement people have with each other, within their community and with their government. As a counter-narrative to the disrespect that permeates our private and public spaces, the National Institute for Civil Discourse spearheaded a national grassroots initiative to provide information about the role of civil discourse as a mechanism of change and tools to support constructive conversations. This webinar will provide an overview of tools and resources available to campuses in Ohio and Maine and explore how the initiative can collaborate with individual schools and Campus Compact to use civil discourse to bring together people of diverse viewpoints on social and political issues.
