The David Hoch Memorial Award for Excellence in Service was designed to recognize and honor the outstanding work in service-learning and/or civic engagement done by a faculty or staff member at an Ohio Campus Compact member institution.  This award is named for the late David Hoch, the Dean of Honors at The University of Toledo, who served as the Director of Service Learning from 1999 – 2005.  Hoch was instrumental in initiating and nurturing the role of civic engagement at The University of Toledo, not only in the Honors Program, but in residence life and other departments as well. Campus Compact is pleased to announce the 268 students who will make up the 2018 cohort of Newman Civic Fellows. The Newman Civic Fellowship is a one-year fellowship for community-committed college students from Campus Compact member institutions. The fellowship honors the late Frank Newman, one of Campus Compact’s founders and a tireless advocate for civic engagement in higher education. Congratulations to Six Ohio ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge Awardees

The All In Campus Democracy Challenge aims to recognize colleges and universities that make a commitment to increasing student voting rates and engage students in democratic engagement. The Challenge is a national awards program and in Ohio, six campuses have been recognized for their achievements in student voting engagement. Hiram University, Miami University and The Ohio State University were each named as Bronze Seal campuses. This designation celebrated voter participation at 50-59%. Silver Seals were granted to Cleveland State University, Mount St. Joseph University, and Otterbein University. These three campuses featured 60-69% voter participation.
